Internationalisation and researcher mobility between Sweden and South Africa
The aim of South Africa-Sweden Bilateral Scientific Research Cooperation is to strengthen Swedish research and higher education by developing and establishing international partnerships. The programme supports projects of high scientific quality which are clearly contributing to the activities of participating institutions. The programme is cofunded by Formas, Forte, STINT and the Swedish Research Council (VR) on the Swedish side and the National Research Foundation on the South African side.
Applicants should be working at a university in Sweden and have obtained their PhD. Projects may last for up to three years. Applications will be assessed by experts, focusing on how the proposed international partnership fulfils the following three criteria: 1) contribution to the institutions’ internationalisation, 2) scientific quality and novelty and 3) planning and support.
The annual budget can be a maximum of SEK 200,000. In other words the maximum budget of a three-year project can be SEK 600,000 (the South African partner applies for a corresponding amount to NRF, for a maximum project total of approximately SEK 1.2 million over three years).
