Osama Mansour, PhD in Information Systems (IS) at Linnaeus University in Växjö, will talk about his research that deals with various aspects of organizational use of social media.
Osama’s PhD thesis was titled The Bureaucracy of Social Media – An Empirical Account in Organizations where the main theme was to understand organizational use of social media, in particular wikis, for knowledge collaboration and sharing. The main argument in his thesis was centred on tensions and incompatibilities between technology and organisation features that influence technology use. That study was based on two large, multinational organizations: Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) and IBM.
More recently, Osama’s research has been focused on developing a ‘theory of affordances for technology use’ by attempting to appropriate some aspects of Gibson’s theory of affordances into studies of technology; social media use in organizations being one example.
