Opportunity to study abroad

During my final year of my degree I took the opportunity to study in Sweden as part of the Socrates Exchange programme.

When I arrived in Sweden our tutor welcomed me with open arms. She was extremely kind and generous throughout my 3 month stay. The first couple of weeks were a complete culture shock which I survived and began to immerse myself in the Swedish lifestyle – so much so I didn’t want to come home!

During my three month stay I attended a pre-school for 3-5 year olds. I built fantastic relationships with both teachers and children and was extremely sad to leave.
Outside of pre-school I explored different parts of Sweden including Stockholm and met people from all over the world. I gained many insights into the Swedish education system and also considered the diverse way in which we educate children. My time in Sweden was a completely life changing experience. It has helped me to broaden my horizons and particularly gain further understanding of other cultures.

I would undoubtedly recommend this experience to anyone considering it. It only lasted 3 months but, I have brought back a lifetime of wonderful memories that will never be forgotten.
