The self-exposing social media trend has blurred the borders between the private and the public space. Through our own controlling filters, we modify the image of ourselves and how we would like our identities to be perceived. Sometimes we show too much, sometimes we hide behind a surface. Layered Identity aims to investigating cross-sectional cuts in menswear within the concept of reveal and conceal. The method explores transparency and the unseen layers between the body and the outer layer of clothes. A new way of revealing the male body is found through the development of these techniques, both in terms of shape and materials. The final result is a collection of tailored menswear garments, challenging the sexual attraction of nudity in men’s fashion.
