Woven Light – Some sort of animal
An investigation in hand weave with the theme textile animals, how you can make a textile to perceive as a fury animal. I have been working with effect yarns, optical fibers and feathers in my process and the result of my investigation is thise four examples with different characters.
I wanted to create a textile animal with a strong temperament. The light color from the woven optical fibers show which temper the animal have. If its neutral- white, happy- blue ore angry- red. In this way, I personally feel that the textile animal comes alive. I have had two sources of inspiration. The Icelandic textile artist Shoplifter - Hrafnhildur Arnardottirs performance Hringsola, and the children's book “Where the Wild Things Are” -Maurice Sendak.
The project was presented at the Furniture Fair in 2014 in the monter: “Woven light” with four other students from textile design.
