International Week 2017
2-4 October the International Office organises an International Week for students and staff of the univeristy. The week will highlight University of Borås work within internationalisation and exchange studies. Below is a preliminary programme.
Monday 2 October
Meet the world in Borås and learn more about your possibilities to go abroad during your studies. Students from all over the world will present their countries and universities and let you try their traditional food.
Location: Living room, indoor area outside the library
During International Week you will be give the opportunity to take part in a quiz walk organised by the International Office. The questions are related to internationalisation and the winner will get a prize. The quiz walk is available for all students and staff during the whole event and will end 13:00 on Wednesday.
Location: Starts at room B309
The classroom as a cultural interface (Workshop)
This workshop is a chance for university teachers to explore strategies and opportunities for enhancing the learning of international students in their classes. Specifically we will discuss ways of engaging and supporting learners. We will invite participants to share relevant experiences and reflect on how to overcome challenges in creating inclusive learning environments.
Presentation of SIDA alumni
What is possible within the Minor Field Studies programme? Sofia Cederfeldt, appointed SIDA alumn and a MFS-grantee, will present her study from South Africa 2016 and will discuss her mission as SIDA Alumni Ambassador.The speech will touch upon global development issues with a particular focus on different conditions, (in)equalities and in what way sustainable consumption can play a role for these issues related to fair trade and its implications.
ESN Borås och EVS arranges a language café where you can meet other students as well as volunteers to learn a new language or improve one you already know.

Tuesday 3 October
Breakfast presentation with the Immigrant Academy
Former students of Immigrant Academy who have foreign academic qualifications and now eligibility in Swedish and Civics from University of Borås will be presenting their career paths on the labour market in Sweden. Listen to their life stories about moving to another country with their academic qualifications, learning a new language and standing strong on the Swedish labour market. Coffee/tea and a sandwich is offered to all participants.
How to lead yourself? (Workshop)
Today's world is complex and fast-changing which demands different styles of leadership. Career Services invite students to a workshop on self-leadership, which aims on helping you to find intrinsic motivation, to take more long-term and conscious decisions and to see yourself as a leader. We will use an app as a tool. Participating students are required to bring their notebook or smart phone.

Inspiration event about studies and traineeships abroad
What does it mean to go abroad during your studies? The International office welcomes students to an inspiration event were different opportunities on going abroad are presented. The aim of the event is to inform and inspire students to spend part of their education abroad. Students who have been abroad as well as representatives from a recruitment company will be present during the event to answer questions and invite inspiration. International office will offer drinks and an easier snack.

Making sense of it (Workshop) - Cancelled
Are you a student who is new to or relatively new to Sweden? Are you excited about the challenges and opportunities of studying in a new country, but unsure of what it means to be a university student in Sweden? Are some of the academic activities at the university still a mystery to you? Then this workshop is for you! In the workshop, we will explore some of the challenges and opportunities of being an international student at the University of Borås. We will also ‘unpack’ some of the academic practices that you may encounter as a student. The workshop will be an opportunity to share experiences with fellow students and to become more familiar with your new environment. All participants will be given a light breakfast.
The theme for the autumn's second GEM is "Internationalisation within the university and the ongoing investigation".
