The Swedish School of Textiles presented with symbolic key
Three years ago, the University of Borås decided on moving the Swedish School of Textiles to facilities that would be constructed in the Simonsland district. On the 1st of August, the decision finally became reality! During a spontaneous ceremony, CEO Kjell Berggren of Kanico presented Head of School Erik Bresky with a symbolic key to mark the occasion when the Swedish School of Textiles officially moved in to the Textile Fashion Center.
The ceremony was witnessed by a group of curious students returning early from their summer break, university staff and journalists from Borås Tidning and Sveriges Radio Sjuhärad. They were all allowed a sneak peak of the new facilities.
– Finally! It's fantastic to be able to enter, especially when everything turned out to be this good, Erik Bresky said to among others Sveriges Radio Sjuhärad. (Listen to the full radio newscast here).
The University of Borås and The Swedish School of Textiles inaugurates the new facilities with dinner and tours of the premises for specially invited guests on the 17th of October. On the 18th of October, university staff and students will celebrate their own opening ceremony. On the 19th of October, the public is invited to tour the premises.
Currently, the unpacking of an entire School has begun in order to have offices, lecture halls, labs and machine parks stand ready when the students arrive. The autumn term begins on the 2nd of September.
