Days of Knowledge
The University of Borås, City of Borås, Sparbanksstiftelsen Sjuhärad and Swedbank Sjuhärad stand for the event. The day is an offshoot from Sparbanksstifelsen Sjuhärad's traditional gala in which they award prizes within sport, culture, and education in the region of Sjuhärad. During the evening, an event is arranged for specially-invited guests in which Sparbanksstifelsen Sjuhärad will award contributions to research projects as well as the Social Media Prize.
This is the third year in a row that Days of Knowledge is arranged – a day to celebrate the education and research conducted at the University of Borås.
"Sustainable development has been an overall theme for the last two years and is thematically present this time as well. We have chosen to put a larger focus on international questions and the day is a part of the university's international week," says Björn Brorström, Vice-Chancellor at the University of Borås.
"The University of Borås emphasises internationalisation. We want more students and staff to travel abroad, study, and work at other universities, and we want more students and staff from around the world to come here. It's about exchanging experiences and increasing understanding for each others' situations and perspectives. Internationalisation means improved quality in our educational programmes and research and contributes to beneficial and sustainable society development."
One of the day's programme highlights is a panel discussion on sustainable design moderated by Clemens Thornquist, Professor at the Swedish School of Textiles. Participating in the panel are Catarina Midby, Sustainability Manager at H&M and Mariko Takahashi, international guest designer at the Swedish School of Textiles.
International week takes place 17-21 October. The focus is on highlighting what the University of Borås does and can do in a global society. Read more about the activities that will take place during the week.
