Martin Hellström leaves his Pro Vice-Chancellor appointment

Pro Vice-Chancellor Martin Hellström has applied to be discharged from his post as Pro Vice-Chancellor as he is expected to assume the role of Vice-Chancellor for Högskolan Väst (University West) as of 1 January 2017. Deputy Vice-Chancellor Jenny Johannisson has been proposed for the role of interim Pro Vice-Chancellor.

Högskolan Väst’s board made a proposal to the government in the beginning of the summer to name Martin Hellström as Vice-Chancellor för Högskolan Väst as of 1 January 2017. Marin Hellström’s role as Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Borås continues until 31 July 2017. In anticipation of the governmental decision, Marin Hellström has applied to be discharged from his role as of 7 October 2016.

”For personal reasons, I’ve already chosen to move to Trollhättan as my son began secondary school there in August. Therefore, I’ve chosen to end my role as Pro Vice-Chancellor in Borås on an occasion when the university’s board, during a regular board meeting, has the opportunity to make a decision regarding my successor. During the autumn, I will conclude my projects in Borås as well as turn things over to my successor,” says Martin Hellström.

“It has been an exciting and rewarding time as Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Borås and I am thankful and proud to have been a part of the university’s development over the last few years.”

The University of Borås’s board is expected to make a decision on the 6 October regarding Martin Hellström’s discharge from his role.

At the same board meeting, the board is also expected to designate the University of Borås’s current Deputy Vice-Chancellor as interim Pro Vice-Chancellor, therefore enabling her to act as the Vice-Chancellor when so needed. This role is suggested for the period of 7 Octrober 2016 to 31 July 2017.
