Exchange students from outside the EU/EEA
Exchange students from partner universities outside the EU/EEA as well as exchange students from within the EU/EEA who can demonstrate that they are not entitled to a European Health Insurance Card in their home country, are covered through the insurance Student IN by the University.
The University of Borås provides exchange students from partner universities outside the EU/EEA with an insurance called Student IN (PDF) It can also be offered to exchange students from within the EU/EEA who can demonstrate that they are not entitled to a European Health Insurance Card in their home country. The insurance grants you free medical treatment, including dental care for up to 3000 SEK /year, if the treatment becomes necessary during your stay in Sweden. The insurance is valid for the period of your studies, as well as two weeks before and after the official start of the semester, provided that you have a registration at the University of Borås. The insurance applies 24 hours a day in the Schengen area, provided that the student have been given a Schengen Visa from the Swedish Migration Agency. It does not cover care which can be delayed until you return home, such as some types of dental treatment.
The insurance also covers property or losses from burglary, robbery, and other theft. The property cover only applies in Sweden and the deductible is 1500 SEK. For terms and conditions of the insurance, please see the PDF file mentioned below.
