Content

This course deepens the different perspectives of the Swedish language and Swedish society that was introduced in the previous course "Swedish as a foreign language - beginner's course" 7.5 credits. The focus rests on the students' own linguistic progression. This course is largely centered on communicative exercises designed to train and encourage wider knowledge and skills in the Swedish language. Written and oral statements, which are mandatory, are reported continuously. The course also provides some guidance in Swedish cultural heritage and society.

Learning Outcomes

The student is to:

  • understand phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance, daily activities and studies
  • read very short, simple texts, find information in simple everyday material and understand short simple personal emails
  • communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics and activities
  • use a series of phrases and sentences to describe in simple terms his/her family, living conditions, educational background and recent studies
  • write short, simple messages and notes and write simple personal emails

When finishing the course, the student must demonstrate knowledge in Swedish corresponding to level A2 on the CEFR scale.

Student Influence and Evaluation

The course is evaluated orally during the course. In addition, an individual written evaluation is accomplished at the end of the course. The evaluation is presented in a course report that is published according to the rules of the Academy.
