Change of systems

During the fall 2016 and spring 2017 the library will implement the two Ex Libris-systems Alma and Primo. Alma is, what Ex Libris calls, a next-generation library management solution, and Primo is a discovery system used to search the whole library collection.

The work to implement the new systems at the library will be conducted as a project. Project leader is Hanna Hallnäs and the others in the project team are Daniel Sandbecker and Klaz Arvidson. To help them, they also have a group of experts in different fields: Lena Holmberg, Martin Borg, Tove Lekselius and Katarina Engvall. But the rest of the staff in the library will also be involved to different degrees.

By replacing some of the current systems, we work to improve the system environment at the library for both users and staff.

On this page you will be able to follow the progress of the project. The list of milestones in the project Project will be updated during the project.

Project milestones

31 October 2016: Start of the project. 

End of November 2016: Test migration of data from our current systems to the new ones. 

December 2016: Configuration of Alma to adapt the system to our Library (e.g. Borrowing Regulations). 

End of December 2016: We get access to Alma, including our configuration and our data. 

January 2017: Testing of data and functionality in Alma begins, and will continue until the system is ready to go live.

Start of January 2017: Implementation of Primo starts. 

End of January 2017: We get access to Primo. 

February 2017Testing of functionality in Primo begins, and will continue until the system is ready to go live 

March 2017: Training of all staff at the library in the new systems. 

End of March 2017: Final migration of data from our current systems to the new ones. From this point the project will affect the service the library is able to give to users.

3 April 2017: The library will go live with the new systems.
