Environments, resources and labs

Experiments, tests, and simulations are sometimes the best way to get answers in science and research. The university's physical research environments include everything from natural science labs, textile labs, digital business labs, and a clinical training centre. We have a large number of different kinds of machines, instruments, and other resources.

These environments are also used in our educational programmes so that our students and doctoral students can acquire practical knowledge in the best possible way.

Biogas Lab

In the Biogas Lab, various research projects are underway to investigate the processes that lead to biogas production.

Biotechnology Lab

The Biotechnology Lab hosts studies within biotechnology focusing on resource recovery.

The Building Technology lab

The Building Technology labs link education and research closer together.

Clinical Training Centre

Clinical Training Centre is staffed by professionals, training technicians, nurses, assistants, lecturers and doctoral students. They ensure both quality and knowledge growth in education, and carry out development and research projects.

Data as Impact Lab

Data as Impact Lab performs analyses and offers an infrastructure for AI applications involving bibliometric methodology, semantic modelling, and visualization.

Digital Business Lab

The Digital Business Lab inspires and educates students, collaborates with companies, and supports researchers with its expertise in digital technologies in a business context.

Digital Crafts Lab

Digital Crafts Lab is one of the newest labs at the Swedish School of Textiles. Here, the focus is mainly on the process of moving from a digital image (graphic design) to its application on materials via laser cutting or digital printing.

Dye & Print Design Lab

The Dye & Print Design Lab offers endless possibilities for creating your own expressions. There is a wide range of equipment, enabling you to work with many different techniques.

Dye & Print Technology Lab

Here the focus is on textile paint, printing, and preparation processes. Here, students and researchers have the opportunity to immerse themselves in textile and production development in a unique environment.

Garment Technology Lab

The Garment Technology Lab has a large variety of machines for sewing seams as well as other joining techniques. The machines can join materials such as knits, woven fabrics, leather, fur, and they can also make seams waterproof.

Knitting Technology Lab

Everything a knitting machine can do can be done in the Knitting Technology Lab. It is possible to produce double jersey in large and small patterns, rib, plush and single jersey materials in varying gauges.

Polymer Technology Lab

Research in the Polymer Lab is largely about studying bio-based polymeric materials that can replace fossil plastics.

Textile Technology Laboratories

This collective name includes four laboratories: Research Lab – Chemistry, Research Lab – Supercritical CO₂, Research Lab – Analysis/Inkjet, and Research Lab – Textile Bio/Plasma Machine.

Textile Testing Lab

Our Textile Testing Lab is one of the few such labs still available in Sweden. The lab gives you the opportunity to evaluate materials and designs through testing, interpreting, and analyses.

Weaving Technology Lab

Here you will find the most modern equipment in both jacquard weaving, as well as in machine and hand weaving, together with more traditional equipment.
