Care provision in high-technology environments

Description

Care provision in high-technology environments is based on a caring science perspective where the intent is to seek and gain knowledge about what is care-supporting in different healthcare settings when care is increasingly characterised by high-technology.

Our research areas include the caring environment, patient transfers between hospitals, and end-of-life care. Our position is that the physical and mental health elements of the care environment interact. Therefore, the care environments’ design, interiors, materials, and equipment, as well as its atmosphere, are of interest for our research.

The group is well-established and has met regularly for some years. Its base is made of senior lecturers and lecturers in the anaesthesia and intensive care post-graduation programmes, but we also have contacts and collaborations with other institutions nationally and internationally.

Within the group, there is a post doc and four doctoral projects; all senior researchers work actively on their own projects, as well. We aim to establish new doctoral projects relating mainly to the anaesthetic care and end-of-life care in intensive care from a transcultural perspective.
