ESN Borås

Join ESN Borås and get involved with our international students.

The Student Union and the University of Borås are recruiting new members to participate in and run the Erasmus Student Network Borås (ESN Borås). ESN Borås is an organisation that helps welcoming new international students to the University of Borås and promotes the integration of all students in the daily campus life.

It is a great chance to meet new people, learn about other countries, and to enrich the study abroad experience of our international students.

Why participate in the ESN Borås?

  • Make new friends from around the globe.
  • Learn more about other cultures, including your own culture.
  • Improve your language skills. It is a great chance to improve your English and even to practice another foreign language.
  • Increase your chances of being able to study abroad. Students who have worked as a buddy have a greater chance of being accepted for exchange studies as the University of Borås take this into consideration when many students apply for the same exchange program/university.
  • Help the students and university by being an invaluable contact and mentor for them during their time in Sweden. Having a contact when moving to a new country makes a huge difference for a foreign student.

What can I do as part of the ESN Borås?

  • Help arrange social activities mainly during the welcome period for new international students, but also during the whole year.
  • Help arrange multicultural events for all students at the university
  • Meet the new students for a coffee and hang out. Find out how things are going for them and if they have some questions you can help them with.
  • Take international students along when you hang out with your Swedish friends or to your home. International students always want to meet Swedish people, and are grateful when they get the chance to meet Swedes.

Who can join the ESN Borås?

  • Any student at the University of Borås. Swedish students and international students alike.

What is expected of me?

  • Attend the ESN Borås meetings
  • A time commitment of a minimum of a few hours a week for the initial few weeks when new international students arrive.
  • To be patient, understanding, and helpful.
  • To be a member for a minimum of one semester though it is preferred if students can participate for one full school year.

Who makes a good buddy?

  • Students who want to make friends from around the globe.
  • Students who are curious about learning about other cultures.
