Academic information
The University of Borås offers the course spring semester of 2012 starting 2 January at 2 pm and ending 14 January 2012. Students are expected to be in Borås during the whole period.
The course deals with the basic structure and function of the Swedish language and focuses on the student’s own progression. The lessons are conducted through lectures, individual and group exercises and seminars. The lessons are mainly held in Swedish, although English may occur. Exchange students who stay in Borås are given priority to book student rooms before other university students. Former exchange students will spend time with ERASMUS students in social activities.
The total number of classes will be 70 hours. Half of this time is spent in the classroom. The rest of the time will be practicing conversation and working in language laboratory. Lectures in Swedish society and daily life, Swedish history and the Swedish educational system, information about organizations and clubs in the area, and discussions about Swedish culture along with culture shocks and stereotypes are integrated in the course.
After completing the course the students shall be able to: listen, understand and take part in everyday conversations in Swedish, as well as read texts and write in basic Swedish.
