Academic year
The academic year is divided into two semesters - autumn semester and spring semester. Each semester represents 20 weeks of full-time studies. The Swedish Academic year usually starts in late August and ends in the beginning of June.
Within the two semesters, the academic year is divided into four study periods:
Period 1: end of August - end of October
Period 2: beginning of November - middle of January
Period 3: middle of January - end of March
Period 4: beginning of April - beginning of June
Examinations
Autumn semester: One week in October, one week before Christmas.
Spring semester: One week in March, one week in the beginning of June.
Accommodation
The University will do their best to provide our international students from our exchange agreements with accommodation. All international students are given the opportunity to book their own student flat. An accommodation guide will be sent to the student after they have received their Offer of Admission.
Orientation week
International students are invited to an orientation week. It takes place in the end of August every year. For students coming in the spring there will be introduction days during the first week of study. We strongly encourage incoming students to be here in time for the entire orientation week or the introduction days.
Information on courses in English
Information about our courses can be found on the website for courses. The information about courses in English is updated in October each year.
A Swedish language course is provided for exchange students.
Grades, ECTS and the Swedish Credit system
• The Swedish credit system has been changed in 2007. 1 Swedish credit = 1 ECTS
• One semester of full-time studies = 30 Swedish credits = 30 ECTS
The system Fail (U) Pass (G) and Pass with Distinction (VG) is usually used to grade examinations. International students will be marked according to the ECTS assessment scale A, B, C, D, E and F alongside the Swedish grades.
