Delia Dumitrescu

The aim of my research is to investigate new interactive architectural forms that integrate textile materials as dynamic mechanisms in order to create different space expressions that trigger different senses by joining together aesthetics, computation and human interaction as manner to create space.

My vision is an architecture viewed as a mixed reality between real elements and imaginary ones that extends our common space perception by a total engagement of senses. The research aims is to generate new relationships between user and the build environment by questioning the subject of materiality in architecture and the role of the surface design as related to the build space.

My method of research is practice-based experimental design that investigates by making the design of dynamic structures using knitting as structural technique; it joins together two processes such as textile and architectural design in order to explore the possibilities generated by the relation between material and human space interaction.
