Arrival information
In this section you can find information about arriving in Sweden and how to find your way from the airports to Borås and from the central station to your student room.
Borås is located 70 km directly east of Göteborg. If you are flying into Borås most of you will arrive at Landvetter International Airport. If you fly with Ryanair, Germanwings, or Wizz Air you will arrive at Göteborg City Airport (Säve).
Arriving to Landvetter International Airport
Landvetter airport is located halfway between Borås and Göteborg. This is the main airport in west Sweden.
Buses
There are a few direct buses going between Landvetter and Borås each day operated by the company Swebus. See their website for a timetable: http://www.swebus.se/SwebusExpress_com/Airport-transfer/ You can buy a ticket at “Pressbyrån” (Swedish chain of convenience stores) in the arrival hall or in advance on the website of Swebus.
You can also take bus number 511 (direction Partille centrum) from "Landvetter flygplats, Härryda" to the stop Landvettermotet where you switch to bus number 101 to Borås Resecentrum (direction Borås resecentrum via Bollebygd). You might have to wait up to 30 minutes at Landvettermotet before bus number 101 arrives. See http://vasttrafik.se/ (the public transport company in West Sweden)
For these buses you can buy a bus card at “Pressbyrån” (Swedish chain of convenience stores) in the arrival hall. You can also buy a single ride or top up your card directly on the bus, but please note that you cannot pay with cash on the buses, only with credit cards (Visa, Maestro, Mastercard) and Swedish debit cards. If you have a Swedish mobile phone operator you can also buy a single ride by text message.
Another option is to take the airport bus (flygbussarna) to Göteborg and there take a bus to Borås. Get off at the first stop in Göteborg called Korsvägen and take bus number 100 to Borås from the same stop (platform H). Not all airport buses stop at Korsvägen, instead they go directly to Nils Ericson Terminalen which is at the central station in Göteborg. You can also take a bus to Borås from there but if you take it from Korsvägen you will save a lot of time. So make sure to ask if the airport bus will stop at Korsvägen. The ride takes about 20 minutes from the airport to Korsvägen and about 50 minutes from Korsvägen to Borås resecentrum. You can buy tickets (different tickets for the airport buses and the local buses) at “Pressbyrån” (Swedish chain of convenience stores) in the arrival hall or at Korsvägen. If you have a credit card (Visa, Maestro, Mastercard) you can buy a ticket on board the bus (not with cash). A one-way ticket to Korsvägen is 80 SEK and a one-way ticket from Korsvägen to Borås is 104 SEK.
You can find a timetable for the airport buses on their website: www.flygbussarna.se
You can find a timetable for the buses from Korsvägen, Göteborg to Borås resecentrum, Borås on the website of the public transport company in West Sweden: http://vasttrafik.se/
