Housing for international students
The International Student Services will send information about accommodation by e-mail to all admitted students, so make sure to check your inbox.
Fee-paying students
Fee-paying students, please visit the website of AB Bostäder – the largest letting agency in Borås.
Exchange students
Exchange students are not guaranteed accommodation, but are given the chance to book a student room with AB Bostäder, before Swedish students. A guide of the booking process is sent to exchange students shortly after they are admitted (you can also find it online at the website of AB Bostäder). However, please note that the number of rooms for incoming exchange students are limited and there is a risk you may not receive one if you do not book immediately when they are released (normally mid-July for students starting in August, and in the beginning of December for students starting in January). You need to book the room yourself, the university will not do it for you. If there are no rooms available on the website, you are advised to check the site on a daily basis as more rooms may become available at a later stage.
The University will assist exchange students who cannot find accommodation, but students should also realise that it is their own responsibility to find a place to live. Assisting students in finding accommodation is a difficult task. For this reason students cannot be too demanding in the type of accommodation they feel is acceptable and must be flexible in terms of the rent and location of the room. The cost for renting a regular student room/apartment varies depending on the size and standard, but is normally around SEK 3000.
Please go to Finding a place to live for more information on finding accommodation in Borås.
Degree students from EU/EEA countries
If you are a degree student who is not an exchange student and is not required to pay fees (citizens from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland as well as other exemptions) the University of Borås does not provide assistance in finding accommodation - it is entirely up to yourself to find accommodation. This means that you are in the same situation as a regular Swedish student. You can use the information included in the section Finding a place to live for more information on finding accommodation in Borås.
