History
The pre-school teacher education in Borås started as early as 1965. Together with The Swedish School of Library and Information Science, the pre-school teacher education formed the basis for the University of Borås, founded in 1977. In 1990, the School of Education and Behavioural Sciences was founded after having been closed since 1986. From 1995 and onwards, the School has the rights to educate and examine primary school teachers.

Quality work
The School of Education and Behavioural Sciences aims at having as high quality in education as possible, so as educational reviews take place continuously. During the school year of 2003, the courses in psychology and sociology were reviewed. In 2004, pedagogy, English, and the teacher programme were reviewed; in 2005 human work sciences. During the present school year, the School works on developing its activities based on these reviews. Also, an increasing number of the staff have submitted doctoral theses or participate in research education.
To maintain a high quality level in the selection of courses, the course coordinator submits a review after each course is finished. The reviews contain evaluations of the course budget, a summary of the teachers’ and students’ opinions of the course, and also the teachers’ collective conclusions of the course, along with suggestions for improving future courses.
