Research
At the School of Business and Informatics (SBI) senior researchers (Ph.D:s) and postgraduate research students work within a common research profile Development of Trading and Services, which is based on:
- An attitude to create new and/or improved solutions within trading and services that benefit customers, employees, owners and other stakeholders.
- A development methodology that is built on testing new ideas of trading and services through experiments and prototypes.
- An overall view that includes all the value building activities within development of products and services, marketing and selling
- Different competencies and methods for developing businesses.
The research profile is interdisciplinary and is carried out within SBI’s both disciplines business administration and informatics oriented towards Business design and Co-design.
The research mainly focuses on trading and services, both in retail trade and mail order/remote shopping. Trading entails entrepreneurship, innovation systems, business development, marketing, organisation, management and accounting, which de facto is handled by business administrators with various specializations. The research on services is often interdisciplinary and deals with areas like customer behaviour, customer service, service meetings and information technology service solutions between consumers, companies, and citizens and the public sector. Therefore services entail informaticians with specialization towards Practice Driven System development and Data Mining as well as business administrators.
The research at SBI is under a focused construction and there is a constantly on-going resolute work to strengthening the research profiles in order to sustain and develop also excellent quality in the education.
