Functional Disabilities

If you are considering studying at a university and have functional disabilities, please contact our co-ordinator Anita Lindahl well in advance so we can plan your studies ahead. If you have reading and/or writing disabilities/dyslexia you can contact our lecturer in dyslexia, Emma Kjellén directly.

Admission

If you have functional disabilities you may be admitted through individual examination. More information can be found in the Swedish document Antagningsordning 2011-2012.pdf, see page 12 (pdf).

Support for students with functional disabilities

The University of Borås offers all students the possibility to study on equal terms. Consequently, if you have functional disabilities, you can apply for special pedagogical support. The term functional disabilities, is defined as the physical, mental or developmental disabilities which pose substantial barriers to your ability to study. One such barrier is reading and writing disabilities/dyslexia.

What kind of pedagogical support is offered?

See our brochure Särskilt pedagogiskt stöd för studenter med funktionsnedsättning (Pedagogical support for students with functional disabilities), in Swedish, (pdf) or under Support for students with Disabilities.

Studying abroad

If you are interested in studying or working abroad, and have a functional disability of some kind, read more on the web site for the Independent Living Institute.
