Research education
The research study programme in Library and information science is one of the biggest in Europe. Together with the Unit for Library and Information Science at Gothenburg University, the Swedish School of Library and Information Science makes a joint department of Library and Information Science. Nordic and national contacts have resulted in joint research courses and a long-term network cooperation for research education in the Nordic and Baltic countries, called NORSLIS.
The department offers doctoral courses and weekly research seminars. Supervisor resources consist of nine full professors and five readers (associate professors). For the moment, 20 doctoral students are active at the department with widely various research directions. Their studies are financed partly via doctoral positions, partly via research projects. So far, 24 doctors and six licentiates have graduated. New doctoral positions are announced once a year.
