At the UCB research is conducted at all seven departments. Here is a short description of the research at each department.

The Swedish School of Library and Information Sciences

The department’s educational programmes and research focuses on information management in a broad sense. In cooperation with the University of Gothenburg, Sweden’s most significant PhD programme in the field of library and information sciences is conducted at the department.

The School of Business and IT

The research at this department distinguishes itself in the field of commerce and service development, where competence in business administration and informatics complement each other. Research is conducted in close cooperation with organisations and the business sphere.

The School of Education

This department conducts research and education, in many cases up to the master’s level, in the main fields of teacher training and behavioural and social sciences. Research is conducted in the fields of education, sociology, psychology and work life science.

The School of Engineering

The institution offers diploma as well as one and two year master programmes in a wide array of technological fields. In each field of engineering there are developed research environments. The department is closely engaged in cooperation with SP, the Technical Research Institute of Sweden, in education as well as in research.

The Swedish School of Textiles

The Swedish School of Textiles has the role of national centre for education in the field of textiles, as well as development and research in that field. A powerful push to research and artistic development work has come to mean that the institution assumes an internationally prominent research position.

The School of Health Sciences

This department’s main focus rests on nurse training. On top of that, the institution offers a wide array of specialist nurse training programmes and courses and commissioned educational programmes in caring and nursing. The department’s research activity is organised in two overriding research environments with close connection to the education: The Context of Caring plus Caring and Existence.
