Rules

For the well-being of our visitors, the following rules are effective in the library:

  • Computers are only to be used according to the ethical rules of SUNET. (www.sunet.se) You must have a user-ID to be able to use the computers in the library. The university provides you with a user-ID. Students from other universities may obtain a temporary user-ID by contacting the library staff.
  • The library is also a place of work for many visitors. Please adjust the sound level accordingly.
  • You may use your own computer in the library except in the quiet reading room.
  • You may not make notes in the library material. If this is done despite this, you are liable to pay for the damage.
  • All consumption of food and drink is directed to the cafeteria.

The building and its equipment

Copiers

You will need a special card for photo copying which you buy from the automat on floor 2. Here you also load new copies onto your card. If you want to copy or print on a transparency sheet, you must buy the sheets from the information point on floor 2,see the price list.
There are copiers for both black & white copies and colours on floor 1.

Printers

Printers are found on all floors except floors 1 and 2.5. There are also colour printers on floor 3. You load new prints onto your account by visiting the automat in the Balder building, opposite the first elevators.

Scanners and fiche reader

You will find scanners on floors 1 and 5 and the fiche reader is located to floor 1. You must have a user-ID to be able to use the scanners.

Storage lockers

On floor 1 there are storage lockers. You borrow a key from the information point on floor 2. Lost keys are compensated according to our price list.

Work places

Library & Learning Resources has over 800 seats. There are private reading seats and group study seats spread over all floors. The quiet reading room with 63 seats is situated on floor 2.

Computer work stations

If you want to use the computers in the library you need a user-ID to the university network. There are more than 150 computers, most of them on floors 2 and 3. Catalogue computers are placed next to the book shelves, two on each floor.

Laptops

If you have a portable computer with a Network Interface Card, you can connect to the internet in all group study rooms in the library by borrowing a cable in the information point. Furthermore, if you have a laptop you can connect wireless to the internet if your computer supports this. You can connect more or less everywhere in the building, except floor 5. The IT-department has more information about wireless connections. 

Group study rooms

There are a total of 31 group study rooms - all bookable in advance.
You book them on the internet by using your user-ID.
- The rooms can only be booked for four hours at a time and seven days in advance.
- If a booked room has not been claimed within 15 minutes of the start of the booking, the room can be booked by another user.
