Quality Enhancement Programme

The quality enhancement programme at University of Borås is based on steering documents that consist both of centrally defined objectives and locally accepted visions, purpose declarations and goals.

Simply put, quality work means to manage and develop an organisation in a systematic way, to think through all aspects of the organisation and to implement appropriate routines. This also means that each employee needs to be aware of his or her importance in the joint aspiration toward high quality of the main assignments of the University, namely education and research. The ongoing quality enhancement programme is supported by the, Policy of Quality Enhancement Programme at University of Borås (only in Swedish).

Responsibility

The overall responsibility for the quality and its enhancement programme, which in practice means both supporting and controlling efforts, lies upon the management of the University. The Research and Education Committee, the Teacher Training Committee and the Committee for Artistic Development Work are responsible for ensuring that the work is efficient and maintains high quality. The Central Administration has a significant role in the continuous follow-ups. The systematic quality enhancement programme of the University is described in, Systematic Quality Enhancement Programme at University of Borås and Guidelines for Local Self Evaluation (only in Swedish).

Local self evaluation

Every third year, the University and its units accomplish a local self evaluation as a complement to the continuous quality enhancement work. In addition to this, an overall quality inventory is carried out every year.

Organization

At University of Borås, there is also a Quality Council responsible for the coordination of the quality enhancement programme. The council has four committees that focus on equality and multiplicity, sustainable development, internationalisation and evaluation.

In order to contribute to good quality and development of the learning activities, there is the Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLU).

The Swedish National Agency for Higher Education will examine the quality enhancement programme of University of Borås during 2009.

Quality coordinator at University of Borås is Irene Arvidsson.
