Bachelor's programme in Informatics

Bachelor's programme in Informatics

This is the programme for you who want to supplement your previous academic studies with additional courses in informatics in order to obtain a bachelor's degree in informatics.

The overall aim of the programme is that students will develop a broad and solid knowledge in informatics, and the ability to systematically and informed deal with complex problems related to the development and use of IT.

You choose courses that fit with your prior knowledge and the area you want to immerse yourself within. Therefore you have a range of courses to choose from, ranging from the toughest programming courses, to courses on interaction and communication design.

You have the opportunity to influence the professional role to target your studies on, e.g. as key person on issues of usability and actability for IT solutions in different contexts.

Prerequisites

  • Basic eligibility for Swedish Higher Education on basic level, and
  • at least 120 credits (ECTS) in completed courses,
  • including at least 30 credits in Informatics (or equivalent).

"Basic eligibility" generally means that you must have a completed Swedish education from upper secondary school (gymnasieutbildning).

ECTS credits must be confirmed to be corresponding to EU standard.

For International students

We currently have no regular admission of non-Swedish speaking students to this program, because most of the courses are given in Swedish, although we are planning to extend the range of courses given in English to make it possible for more students to apply.

The only case we could make an exception for right now, is if the student can demonstrate good English skills and have proven (documented) knowledge of object-oriented analysis, design and programming, specifically C++, C# and Java. In that case we have the possibility to offer a specific line of game programming courses that we are giving in English. In that case you could request an exemption from the "basic eligibility" (pt 1), but the rest of the prerequisites (pts 2 and 3) still must be fulfilled.

If you are interested, please contact Anna Palmquist  for more information.

Documents that proove that you're eligible for application, or validates your request for exemptions are necessary to send in.

The one-year bachelor's programme starts in autumn (August), with an application period 15 March - 15 April.

For all programmes in Sweden, non-EU citizens will be required to pay application and tuition fees. The application fee will be 900 SEK. The tuition fee is  130.000 SEK/year. For EU-citizens, there will neither be an application fee nor a tution fee.
