The Language Lab Facility
- Do you experience difficulties expressing yourself verbally or in writing?
- Do you want help structuring your paper?
- Do you need to brush up on your vocabulary or practice your grammar in order to write acceptable texts?
- Would you like to study in an environment where you can receive immediate guidance and help if you need it?
- Do you want to know what a proper academic report looks like?
- Do you want to learn more about study techniques?
The Language Lab offers professional guidance in Swedish, English and Swedish as a Second Language. The Language Lab can provide tools for improving your studies. Reducing different linguistic flaws result in an increased self-confidence. It can also help clarifying your main points in a text or presentation.
In the Language Lab you get the opportunity to develop different language skills, in your own pace on your own terms, with your department course material as a starting point.
Text Feedback
You can receive feedback on short text passages which will let you know more about what and how you can improve your written language skills. This feedback can be the starting point of your individual checklist that you can use for future text revisions.
I do not:
- give advice on subject specific contents
- make corrections, proofread or edit texts
- read and comment longer reports or theses
Localities
This study environment enables you to work on specific problem areas or give the finishing touch to a project you're currently working on. Useful literature and language software (Swedish, English) are available to help you improve your language skills.
The Language Lab is equipped with several computers.
During opening hours you can use an adjoining group room for collaborative work.
Welcome
Even if you don't have explicit linguistic problems you can still find the Language Lab useful. When you're getting ready to start writing your essay or report you can receive constructive advice on how to get started. Later on in the writing process you can receive instant feed back on parts of your work so far.
Some students simply like working in an environment where they know someone is available to answer questions regarding report format, language etc.
Courses
The Library & Learning Resources provide different courses, workshops and lectures during the year which may help your overall study situation. You can find information on what courses are on at the moment in Current Courses.
Is there anything you miss? If time allows, we also arrange customized courses and seminars based on students' need and requests.
