Description

Domsjo Fabriker AB, a biorefinery, engages in refining renewable wood raw materials into specialty cellulose, bioethanol, and lignosulfonates. It also produces complementary products, including carbonic acid, energy, and biogas. The company’s specialty cellulose is used in various consumer products, including viscose clothing and hygiene products as an alternative to cotton, as well as in pharmaceutical and food industries as an binding agent; bioethanol is further refined into car fuel; and lignosulfonates are used as additives or process aids in various industries. It exports its products internationally. The company was founded in 2000 and is based in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden. As of April 18, 2011, Domsjo Fabriker AB operates as a subsidiary of Thai Rayon Public Co. Ltd. (SET: TR) and PT Indo-Bharat Rayon.

Research projects

Tree to fabric The project is a pre-study of a new sustainable process for producing fabrics of cellulose fibers from wood. The project will demonstrate how the implementation of this process can take place in existing infrastructure.
