Title: Sharing research resources across distances in library and information science: a socio-technical design of a collaboratory

The aim of my doctoral research project is to explore socio-technical factors that impact the design, adoption and use of a collaboratory (a socio-technical platform) for sharing data collection instruments within library and information science.

This research investigates:

How students, researchers and practitioners evaluate and choose data collection instruments,
Motivations for individuals and organizations to share data collection instruments with others who they may or may not know, and
How a controlled vocabulary can effectively support submission, retrieval and evaluation of data collection instruments.
