Swedish Language Courses for Foreign Students

The courses are only available to foreign students enrolled in another course/programme at the University of Borås.

Application procedure

The application procedure will only be made through TransIT for exchange students* and www.universityadmissions.se  for other students.

Re-registration: Students registered previous semesters can not apply again for the same course. Students may ask the course administrator at the course start  for re-registration if there are any openings.

Swedish as a Foreign Language - Beginning course (7,5 ECTS)

This course addresses foreign students with little or no previous knowledge of the Swedish language with the intention of providing basic language skills as well as familiarity with the Swedish society and culture. Tuition is mainly conducted through lectures, individual exercises and seminars. 

All admitted students will receive an invitation letter (via e-mail) with information before the course starts. After admission, all students must register at the website https://registrera.hb.se.

The course starts preliminary 4 September and ends 6 November. Admitted and attending students will be divided into smaller groups. Scheduled lectures take place twice a week. The schedule is one of the two following options:

• Mondays 9-12 am and Wednesdays 4.30-7.30 pm
• Tuesdays 4.30-7.30 pm and Fridays 1-4 pm*
  

 *A new course will start preliminary 16 October and ends 14 December.

Swedish as a Foreign Language - Continuation course (7,5 ECTS)

The course addresses foreign students with previous knowledge of the Swedish language introduced in the course “Swedish as a Foreign Language – Beginning Course, 7,5 ECTS”. The purpose is to extend the students'  knowledge and skills in the Swedish language. Tuition is mainly conducted through lectures, individual exercises and seminars. 

The course starts preliminary 9 November and ends 14 December. All admitted students will get an admission  letter (by email) with information before the course start.

• The Student must have finished and passed the course “Swedish as a Foreign Language – Beginning Course, 7,5 ECTS” when the continuation course starts. Students who are registered for the beginning course (ÖSF111) during application period, may apply for the continuation course.
• The course will be held twice a week Tuesdays 4.15-7.45 pm and Fridays 12.30-4 pm

(Erasmus Intensive Language Course - Swedish Beginners Language) 

The course will not be offered in August 2012 at the university of Borås. Students who have been registered for the course, but not passed final examination will be able to do examinations on the following dates: 

3 May 2012, 31 Oct 2012, 13 Nov 2012, 18 Dec 2012, 15 March 2013.
