A Record Number of Applicants for the University of Borås

This year, almost 325 000 people used the web to apply for this autumn’s university classes. That is an increase by 11 per cent compared to the autumn term of 2008. For the University of Borås, the number of first-hand applicants for educational programmes increased with a remarkable 48 per cent. The corresponding number for the entire country was 18 per ce

Never before have so many applicants applied for higher studies than is the case now. The Swedish Agency for Higher Education has in cooperation with the country’s universities developed an e-service that is now used by about 99 per cent of all applicants. In all 325 000 people applied online. On the last day for applications close to 50 000 people applied and the Agency registered about 5 000 applications an hour during the most intense period.

Next week the Swedish School of Textiles and the University of Borås will publish complementary information, as those who applied on paper will be counted and registered. That means that the overall number will increase.
