Great Interest in Prehospital Emergency Care

Thursday’s R&D seminar brought up current research questions and results concerning the care for patients who dial the international emergency number 112.

Current research projects from emergency medical services, ambulance care and emergency departments were presented at a seminar hosted by the University of Borås, the knowledge centre PreHospen and the regional PreHospital Development Centre.

Angela Bång, lecturer at the School of Health Sciences and one of the moderators, explains that the overall purpose of the seminar is to increase knowledge in prehospital care and treatment. Angela Bång, Björn-Ove SuserudThe seminar presented about twenty project ideas, especially from doctoral students, which gave the participants a good view of resent research initiatives as well as reports from long-term projects.

Mats Holmberg, RN and doctoral student at the ambulance services in Sörmland region, says that an interdisciplinary seminar is useful for a field as complex as prehospital care, as it brings about an understanding of the whole which may lead to better patient care when in early illness or injury.
