This education gives you the tools to manage marketing and consumer behaviour in textile and fashion processes. You gain fundamental knowledge in how to manage textile value chains with a special focus on sustainability. The courses during the first year represent the textile value chain from idea to design, via production and distribution, to market and handling of backflows.
During the second year, you proceed with textile management but this time specialise in marketing and communication. Here, the focus is on different perspectives on communication and how to get a sustainable message out to consumers.
The courses have a strong basis in current research in textile management with a focus on sustainability in the textile value chain, as well as research in adjoining subjects such as business administration and industrial economics at the University of Borås.
The University of Borås is just the right place to study fashion. Here you find well-equipped labs, innovation, and research in technology as well as design, often conducted in collaboration with the industry. Since the Borås region is a textile region, there are good opportunities to collaborations, internships, and degree projects at nearby companies.
This education gives you the preparation for advanced positions in the industry as well as the academia. After graduation, you are equipped with the tools for working in leading positions in marketing, quality, production, or logistics, or you could become an entrepreneur and set up your own business, or continue studying for a PhD.
Letter of Motivation
A letter of motivation should exhibit your motivation for the chosen program, your expectations on your future career, and display your communicative ability. If you have applied for more than one Masters program in Textile Management (application code 9255A, 9257A, 9259A see under Application) it must be clearly stated why and how you made your priorities.
The following must also be clearly visible:
Your contact details; name, postal address, telephone, e-mail and application number.
The letter must be no longer than one A4 page excluding contact information.
Make sure that you express yourself as clearly as possible as to avoid misunderstandings.
You letter should give the reader a sense of who you are, your academic background, your work experience, your interests and your relation to the field of textiles and fashion.
Motivate why you wish to study the chosen program. What are your expectations and how will this promote your future career.
Also briefly describe your strengths and weaknesses regarding study and work-life, relate this to both individual and group work.
