Centre for Working Life and Science (CAV)

We focus on issues related to working life’s governance, organisation, and management. Our vision is to create a sustainable working life.

Människor i möte

CAV is an arena for collaboration and co-production at the University of Borås, and has been so since its inception in 2003. This is where researchers and representatives from working life in development and research projects as well as network meetings and seminars meet. The purpose is to together identify challenges and possibilities for managers and employees.

In order to achieve this vision of a sustainable working life, we work with this mission in mind: "Collaboration and co-production for interdisciplinary research and development."

A special characteristic of CAV is that the knowledge developed via research is contrasted with the knowledge built on the familiarity that those in practice have. This also creates new knowledge that develops views of governance, management, and organisation in relation to a sustainable working life.

Questions about working life are always relevant as work is a meaningful part of many people’s everyday lives. Changes in how work is governed, organised, or led can have different consequences for different groups. How work conditions and environments are experienced depending on sex, class, ethnicity, and generation is important to illuminate, as well as factors supporting successful organisations.

At CAV, research is conducted on working life on the levels of the society, the workplace, and the individual in national and international perspective.
