The Centre for Cultural Policy Research (KPC for its initials in Swedish) is a research centre at the University of Borås. KPC's work is based in the university's vision of Science for the Professions. KPC seeks to play a key role in the growing field of research and practice in the field of cultural politics in the broadest sense.
KPC has three stated areas of focus for its activities:
KPC has a reference group of experts and representatives from the practice field so as to anchor the work in practice and function as a link to decision makers and practitioners. An important task of the reference group is to identify and propose relevant areas and problems to the centre.
KPC is a research-strategic hub for research relevant to cultural policy at both the regional and national levels.
KPC is a natural partner for municipalities, regions/counties, and state administrations as well as organisations involved with research and development in the cultural field.
Culture arose before the economy and politics, and even before democracy. Yet relatively few conduct research on how culture is financed and organised. This is where the University of Borås is unique in Sweden.
Diversity has become one of the most important concepts in Swedish cultural policy. But what it actually means varies greatly depending on the context, according to Linnéa Lindsköld, researcher at the Swedish School of Library and Information Science.
