I work as a guest professor within the field of caring science where I focus on developing innovations in lifeworld led care. I have worked at the University of Borås as a guest professor for four years.

I am currently Professor of Nursing Practice, in Faculty of Health and Social Care at the University of Hull, UK. Before that, I worked at Bournemouth University, UK were I was developing a programme of research concerned with leading care from understanding peoples' experiences of health and illness conditions, wellbeing and its relation to suffering, with the development of practices for humanising care.

I am currently leading a project funded by the Burdett Trust for Nursing, UK entitled 'Humanising Services: A new transferable strategy for improving what matters to people to enhance dignity in care'.
