My research interests focus upon exploring the development of children’s libraries and its services. I am intrigued by the ways in which everyday practices in libraries as places are connected to, reproduce, and can potentially transform, broader-scale inequalities connected to childhood, class, ethnicity and gender. I have recently been involved in a project financed by Malmö City Library, Region Skåne and The University of Borås, Sweden. In this project focus was on finding authentic ways of developing children’s participation in the library and its activities. The next project I will be involved in concerns the establishment and development of Bookstart in one of Sweden’s regions. I am also involved in developing a module as part of an educational programme for The National Agency of Education to support children’s reading. The module is directed to teachers and school librarians.
