I work as a PhD student in the field of research The Human Perspective in Care, focusing on prehospital emergency care.
I have worked at the University of Borås since 2014, mainly in the specialist nursing education with a focus on intensive care, but also within the nursing education at the first level. Before that, I have been working as a specialist nurse in intensive care since the late 1990s.
I am writing a dissertation on patients seeking ambulance care due to breathlessness. There is little knowledge of how patients with shortness of breath experience their situation prehospitally. In addition, it is sparingly explored how patients experiencing shortness of breath are assessed and cared for by ambulance staff. There are knowledge gaps regarding patient experiences, as well as ambulance care and the significance of the assessment in the acute situation, during continued care, as well as in the final diagnosis and long-term follow-up regarding health and well-being of the patient.
