Annual holiday leave

Technical and administrative staff

Technical and administrative staff apply for holiday leave in Primula.

Teachers, researchers, and doctoral students

Holiday leave for teachers are normally assumed to be taken during the students' holidays or other time when teaching does not occur. Holiday leave for teachers is taken from the Monday after Midsummer and continues so long as this year's earned holiday leave lasts.

Standard holiday leave (schablonsemester) is indicated in Primula. For employment that begins or ends during the year, holiday leave is indicated in Primula within the framework of the employment period. The holiday leave is then handled via the employment planning at the Faculty, i.e. the actual taking of the holiday leave is discussed with your immediate manager. Any untaken holiday leave during the year will be indicated in Primula at the turn of the year. When holiday leave days are returned, any holiday leave pay (holiday supplement) already paid out is deducted.

Holiday leave for the entire calendar year is as follows

The number of holiday leave days is determined by the age of the employee

  • Up to 29 years: 28 days
  • From 30 years: 31 days
  • From 40 years: 35 days

Right to holiday leave?

If your employment starts later in the year or if you are completely on leave without pay, the number of paid holiday days decreases. Everyone has the right to a continuous holiday leave of at least four weeks during the period June–August. The number of holiday leave days available is stated in your salary specification.

Holiday supplement

Holiday supplement amounts to 0.44 percent for each paid holiday leave day and is paid in connection with the holiday leave. For Saco-S members, 0.49 percent is paid.

Saved holiday leave

Every employee who is entitled to more than 20 paid vacation days for a given calendar year may save one or more excess days for a later calendar year. However, no employee may have more days saved than 30.
