Course: Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)

Time: 2018-01-22, 13:00 — 16:00
Location: M404
Event Type: Lecture

Welcome to an introductory course on intellectual property rights organised by The Patent and Registration Office (PRV), the Swedish national authority for IPR, and the University of Borås.

In all aspects of creating knowledge, be it research, development, innovation, or any other kind, the concepts of intellectual assets and intellectual property are becoming increasingly important. Identification and management of intellectual assets, and securing assets as intellectual property, may prove crucial for your future professional life: to generate research opportunities and successful grant applications, build collaborations, create societal impact from research results, etc., as well as in entrepreneurial endeavours for creating profitable commercialisations.

This course will give an introduction to the recognised types of IPR: patent, design, trademark, and copyright, and show you how to search, interpret, and use IPR data in your own work. Also, the course will cover how to make inventory of and manage intellectual assets in your project, and how this is used in future research planning, resilience, collaborations, grant applications, etc.

Target groups:
PhD students, but open to all including senior researchers and master students.

The course is held on 22, 23 and 24 January. Register no later than 18 January.
