Agreement with the scientific publisher Elsevier to be terminated

Svante Kristensson, Director of the university library, explains what the decision means:

“For us this means that the researchers and the students will have access to articles published in Elsevier’s journals between January 1995 and 30 June 2018. However, to get access to older or newer articles there are alternative ways. The library staff can give advice about how to find open access articles or order an interlibrary loan.”

Björn Brorström, Vice-Chancellor, also comments:

“A transition to open access to research results is a very important matter. In the end it is a matter about quality in research and a quick and easy dissemination of results to different social actors. It is unfortunate that the transition is hampered by demands for unreasonable financial compensation from, in this case, Elsevier. I fully support the decision to terminate the agreement with an intention to reach an acceptable agreement.
