Interaction Design: Usability and Interaction in Digital Environments
The course aims at introducing students to the field of Interaction Design as disciplinary and professional domain and helping them in developing independent abilities to apply theories and methods for the design of digital interactive services and products for different target groups and purposes. The course emphasizes the following topics: Foundational design theory, concepts and principles; User centered design processes; Design tools and methods (e.g. personas, scenarios, prototyping and contextual inquiry); Usability evaluation and testing.
What you will learn during this course will be relevant, useful and thus valuable not only in situations where you might actually design and develop interactive products and services but also in your regular daily life experiences where you will be able to reflect on and critically evaluate the many products, services or gadgets that we use for several purposes. In general, the course should be an inspiration for changing how we interact in our everyday life.
