My field of research is primarily pre-hospital emergency care, but I have also conducted studies within other fields of emergency care. I’m one of the founders of the prehospital research centre PreHospen which was established in year 1999 in cooperation with the region of Västra Götaland. The research conducted at centre has as its aim to generate new knowledge in caring science, medical science and medical technic.

My previous research has dealt with competence issues for ambulance staff, disaster nursing, quality management, hand-over, decision support and ambulance safety. Current research focuses on IT to improve prehospital and emergency care, ambulance safety and patient safety and security during transports and transfers. I’m also one of two editors for a textbook on prehospital care.

I have also edicated special interest in stimulating ambulance staff to work with research and development projects. If the clinically active caregivers formulate the problems needed to be solved, I believe new knowledge can be obtained through research and development, to benefit for the patient, the health care and the society. Therefore, it is important to guide ambulance staff when they have project ideas that are relevant and might end up as a real project.   Different developmental issues can be channelled into research projects and in extent, new knowledge.
