I am a Senior Lecturer in Educational Work focusing on Higher Education, with a background in secondary school teaching and outdoor education. I moved to Sweden from Australia in 2016, having taught in teacher education programs at the University of Tasmania, and at Charles Sturt University where I completed my PhD in 2014. Prior to joining the university sector, I taught in schools and outdoor education centres in diverse contexts, assuming various leadership positions, including deputy principal. 

My research areas are higher education pedagogy and the professional learning of teachers. I am particularly interested in how university conditions affect teaching and learning in higher education, and how sustainable and sustaining conditions can be promoted. Much of my work is centred on the notion of praxis and praxis-oriented pedagogy, and the challenges and possibilities for both in today's universities. I have published a number of articles and chapters on these topics, including, Exploring Education and Professional Practice, through the lens of Practice Architectures (2017, Springer), which I co-edited with Susanne Francisco and Stephen Kemmis.

I am a Senior Editor of the international journal, Journal of Praxis in Higher Education, a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal for Experiential Education, and a reviewer for Reflective Practice, Journal of Adventure Education and Outdoor Learning, Educational Action Research, and Journal of Experiential Education, among others. I also am a member of the Pedagogy, Education and Praxis (PEP) international collaborative research network, which has members from universities in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Netherlands, Colombia, the Caribbean, Australia, and New Zealand.
