Social Innovation in reality – a world impact case from University of Borås

What do we mean by ”Social Innovation”? According to classical definition, innovation should lead to something tangible like patents, new enterprises, or new jobs. Social innovation reaches beyond this, since its main goals are not primarily commercial, but strives to meet social and environmental needs. However, it may well contain commercial elements that are necessary to achieve this. New products, services, methods, business models, or working strategies that contribute to a better and more sustainable society are social innovations. In this seminar, we explain different aspects of social innovation, illustrated with an example from our own university.
