Food waste prevention at Brazilian street markets

By quantifying food waste and investigating risk factors for waste generation from street markets in Brazil, we aim to support the development of long-term measures to prevent food waste in Brazilian street markets.

The objective is to use previously developed project training materials to train local teams comprised of specialists in solid waste management, government employees, and universities in multiple regions. The goal is to develop and verify previous results, conduct LCA to identify hotspots in the system, analyse the causes of food waste, design and develop food waste prevention and valorization measures, and implement and evaluate these methods.
