Colouring Outside the Nordic Lines

Anna Lundstedt

This degree work explores the narrow idea of minimalist Scandinavian fashion and the individuality that is left out because of it. Scandinavian style is often associated with simplicity and muted colours, but this project looks at how bolder forms of expression can also belong within that aesthetic.

By working with prints and styles that are often seen as too much, the collection reinterprets them to become visually appealing. The print design is based on two main motifs: plaid and animal patterns. Plaid represents tradition, and animal prints bring a sense of excess.
