This project focuses on working with the classic houndstooth pattern and deepening the understanding of its visual possibilities. With a starting point in the traditional structure of the pattern, this project investigates how it can e further developed through various techniques.
By using methods such as sublimation printing and laser cutting, variation is explored in both expression and form. Particular focus is on how houndstooth can change through repetition and placed compositions, as well as how scale, displacement and material choice affect the overall impression. The work moves within muted colour scales to explore more subtle variations rather than strong contrast. The project investigates how changes in technology and execution can open up new ways of perceiving an established pattern, while retaining its basic character.
